Patios

A patio is only as good as what sits underneath it. We plan layout, material, and transitions around how you use the space, then build on a properly prepared base and edge system so the surface performs for the long term, not just on installation day.

Multi-tone paver patio with a charcoal border and wide wraparound steps at the back door of a brick home.

Where this fits

  • A defined outdoor living or dining space connected to the house
  • Replacing worn concrete, gravel, or an unusable side yard
  • A patio that needs to tie into steps, walls, or a walkway

Planning considerations

  • Site grade and how water moves across the finished surface
  • Base depth and compaction appropriate to soil and use
  • Material selection, pattern, and edge restraint
  • Transitions to doors, steps, walls, and existing hardscape

Our approach

We plan patios the same way we plan every project: discovery and a site visit to understand your property, a clear scope before anything is scheduled, construction with ongoing communication if anything changes, and a walkthrough once the work is finished.

Stone and product lines are selected per project. Availability, color, and lead time vary by quarry and manufacturer, and we confirm the exact selection in your proposal.

Materials we work with

  • Natural stone, including bluestone and travertine
  • Premium concrete pavers and large-format slabs from Unilock and Techo-Bloc
  • Contrasting borders, inlays, and matching step treads and coping

Patios projects come up often in Midlothian, Mechanicsville, Glen Allen, and across Greater Richmond more broadly — subject to project fit.
